Just when we thought Jared Dines and Stevie T's epic 18-string vs 20-string guitar battle had brought about the end of djent, it looks like we were dead wrong - the genre is still kicking on with some interesting creations surfacing online.
Take Jared Dines' latest video in which he's collaborated with fellow YouTuber Saxl Rose to bring us "sax djent", which is exactly what the name suggests - saxaphone over the top of meaty, down-tuned riffs!
The first minute of the track is just Jared laying down some shred-work until Saxl throws some glorious brass into the mix, but the song just gets better and better as it goes along. American death metal band Rivers Of Nihil incorporated the sax into their last album Where Owls Know My Name, but it's pretty rare to hear the two come together! Check it out:
So heavy, so smooth!
