Thanks to a bunch of reformations, classic album anniversaries and some ridiculously stacked festivals, nostalgia for the pop-punk and emo sounds of the mid-00s is at an all-time high right now.
With it no longer considered cringe to admit that you still love the music of the MySpace era, even the heaviest of music lovers and music makers are copping to their enduring fandom for the infectiously catchy anthems provided by the likes of My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Paramore, Fall Out Boy and more.
Now notoriously funny YouTuber Alex Melton has gone and created a comedic masterpiece that shows what happens when the local heavy band, gets really into Fall Out Boy. Melton's video which you can see below, lovingly rips on the heavier end of the musical spectrum's newfound unfiltered enthusiasm for Fall Out Boy, while showing some considerable insight into the reality of being a small-time band in a world suddenly ruled by Emo Nights.
We have to admit, metalcore Dance, Dance absolutely (bass) slaps. So much about this video seems frighteningly accurate and that is what makes it so damn funny. The skewering of the club promoter and the defiant enthusasism of the weekend warrior band still doing everything to score a $100 payday, are highlights. Be warned though, when the promoter starts talking about the most invaluable yet intangible commodity known to bands, exposure, you may just cry so hard your eyeliner runs. We know we did.
If Melton's video tickles your fancy, then you could do worse than to check out his emo treatment of Hanson's MMMBop below.
If both of these videos has you looking back with envy to a simpler time when well-chosen profile song and basic HTML coding skills were all it took to make new friends, then head on over to our list of MySpace era tracks that still slap now.
