YouTube demigod Jared Dines has teamed up with an almost unfathomable collection of modern metals finest shredders to create The Biggest Shred Collab Song In The World 5'.
Uploaded on Boxing Day, the video features the talented Dines joining forces with members of Trivium, DragonForce, The Black Dahlia Murder, Periphery, The Haunted, Ice Nine Kills, All That Remains and many more to create a 36 minute shedfest.
Other shredders featured include Nita Strauss, Annie Shred, Elizabeth II and The Iron Maidens' Courtney Cox.
Dines encourages his fans to check out the work of all the shredders featured.
"I want to wish everyone a happy holiday and thank you all for the love over the years!" Dine says. "Follow and support these amazing musicians, these are some of the best guitarists in the world, and I am incredibly honored and blessed to be able to work with them. May your new year be full of light and happiness."
It's the fifth time that Trivium's Matt Heafy has featured in the big shred collaboration. The seemingly always busy frontman lays down some of this trademark shredding style at 22:27, just after 90s metal veteran and creator of the Speed Kills instructional series Michael Angelo Batio (Nitro, Manowar). The whole thing is pretty mesmerizing and is likely to make you never look at your own playing the same way again. These shredders are simply on another level to most of us mere mortals.
Heafy is also no slouch to the mash-up game, the Trivium and Ibaraki frontman and solo artist has released a metal cover of Surface Pressure from Disney's Encanto. Heafy teams up with YouTube metal maestro Jonathan Young on the metal version of the cheerful earworm, which you can view below and what they've come up with together, rips, rips, rips.
Heafy, who has signed a solo record deal with longtime Trivium home, Roadrunner Records, is clearly quite the fan of the Netflix series The Witcher as well, having posted a cover of Toss A Coin To Your Witcher from season one of the show. You can watch that cover below.
Trivium released their 10th full-length album In The Court Of The Dragon in 2021. We spoke to bass player Paulo Gregoletto about making the album and he filled us in on everything else that had been going on in the Trivium camp in 2021.
