DragonForce have released a power metal cover of Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams.
Wildest Dreams (DragonForce's Version) sees the band turn one of Swift's synth-pop smash from 1989 into a frenetic power metal shredfest. The band had been playing the song live on their recent tour of North America and today the band have revealed that the recorded version will be available as a bonus track on their latest album Warp Speed Warriors which is set to drop on March 15.
The Grammy-nominated platinum-selling metal band are best known for their 2005 megahit Guitar Hero anthem Through The Fire and Flames from their acclaimed Inhuman Rampage record, but they've been crushing it for over 20 years, touring with the likes of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Helloween, Sabaton, Nightwish, Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian, Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch. Along the way, they've released eight full-length albums and established a fiercely loyal fanbase, which is something they have in common with Taylor Swift.
Wildest Dreams (DragonForce's Version) arrived accompanied by a video that shows them playing the song to massive crowds who seem to be having just as much fun as the band is.
The band made headlines last year with the release of their Zelda-inspired single, Power of the Triforce complete with Zelda-themed video. Directed by Jake Woodbridge, the video features the band performing live in the Zelda environment Hyrule Castle and laying waste to a suspiciously Ganon-looking nemesis with the Master Sword.
Earlier that year, the band released footage of them playing Through The Fire and Flames live, while going down a water slide. The wet and wild footage was captured during the band's performance on the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise. Watch below as Herman Li and bass player Alicia Vigil climb the stairs to the waterslide and then take a ride down it, all while continuing to shred the Inhuman Rampage anthem. Li and Vigil also takes a soak in the ship's spa, while continuing to melt faces with his otherworldly guitar playing.
Li has shredded underwater previously, so this latest feat seems to be an effort to surpass those exploits. Through The Fire and Flames appears on DragonForce's third album, Inhuman Rampage which was released via Roadrunner Records in 2005.
