Aussie YouTube comedian and loveable metalhead, simply known as Nat, became a breakout viral sensation via some hilarious cooking tutorials on his Nat's What I Reckon channel in 2020.
His no fuss and no bullshit approach to his tutorials along with a hatred for store-bought jar sauce won him millions of fans around the world, and it was a beautiful thing to watch unfold. His fame has resulted in a number of gigs including presenting the award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album at the 2020 ARIA Awards, becoming the face for a local music festival and more.
Now, Nat's been asked to do a TEDxSydney talk, where he talks about his inner battles growing up as an outcast, struggling to hold down jobs, finding success at an unlikely time and offering some inspirational advice for anyone else feeling like they're stuck in limbo - all while sporting a badass battle vest!
“I seen (sic) on the news that all these people had been buying all the toilet roll and all the jar sauce and I’m like, ‘The fuck’s going on here? Why are you buying all this pasta sauce in jars? You’ve got heaps of time, just make it yourself. Maybe I’ll make a video about that … Well, holy shit, the first video got millions of views within a couple of weeks.”
Nat rounded up the talk with this little gem of wisdom:
“I suppose what I’m here to say is: this success rhythm and this normalcy that’s presented to you … maybe that’s not your success. Maybe you having green hair and piercings and swearing a little too much isn’t really the problem. Maybe they’re the problem. Maybe you seeming under-qualified makes you qualified for your success."
