A fan has shared rare footage of a 16-year-old Gerard Way speaking out against the censorship of comic books on the TV talk show Sally Jessy Raphael on TikTok and MCR STANS are losing it.
The footage is lifted from a 1994 episode of the show and features a baby-faced Gerard passionately defending comic books by asking why those seeking to censor comic books, don't target other media instead.

As per Loudersound, at the time of the video, the My Chemical Romance frontman and Umbrella Academy creator was a writer on the independent comic book On Raven's Wings, which was published via Boneyard Press. Boneyard Press editor-in-chief, Hart. D Fisher was being specifically targeted by censors in the audience, for what they saw as 'graphic content'.
My Chemical Romance released The Foundations of Decay in May. Their first new music since returning from a long hiatus, The Foundations of Decay offers the first signs that the band members' creative minds are once again focused on My Chemical Romance.
My Chemical Romance’s March tour will be their first return to Australia since their appearance at Big Day Out festival in 2012. The recent addition of Jimmy Eat World to the lineup should be a nostalgic trip for Aussie audiences, who witnessed both bands open for Green Day on their American Idiot tour, with the two groups heading back to the stadium environment in celebration of My Chemical Romance's rise to the top of the emo pile.
Tickets for the tour are on sale now, with second shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney already added, following an instant sell-out of the first shows in each city. For complete tour and ticket information, visit livenation.com.au. The Foundations Of Decay is out now via all streaming services.
