Trivium's Matt Heafy has thrown his considerable clout behind team Slipknot in the ongoing feud between the metal icons and MGK. Heafy has taken to Twitter to deliver a series of tweets targeting the pop-punk/rap star, dubbing him 'Squirt Gun Smelly' and calling him out for being a 'clout chaser.
In his first tweet, Heafy makes his thoughts on MGK's recent behaviour at Chicago's RiotFest and Kentucky's Louder Than Life very clear stating:
"I’d like to formally diss Machine Gun Kelly for ‘being 31 years old wearing a fucking 16-year-old pop-punk cosplay identity on a fucking stage’

Heafy then gives MGK the appropriately childish-yet-fitting new name 'Squirt Gun Smelly', before launching into a detailed response explaining why he feels the way that he does.

"I never thought about him till he took a shot at Slipknot — who are a band who’s paved the way for bands like mine. Thousands of bands like mine. Squirt Gun is a clout chaser. And even though it’s all a PR stunt, a shot at Slipknot needs an addressing"
I never thought about him till he took a shot at Slipknot - who are a band who’s paved the way for bands like mine. Thousands of bands like mine. Squirt Gun is a clout chaser. And even though it’s all a PR stunt, a shot at SK needs an addressing. (But that cover sounds awful 😂)

Heafy's inflammatory comments continue the intense beef that has been brewing between Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor and MGK and MGK and Slipknot's loyal Maggots that has been dominating our corner of the internet for the last week.
