Slipknot may currently be embracing nostalgia as they celebrate their 25th anniversary, but they have no intentions of slowing down as a creative entity and have new music coming "sooner than you'd imagine". Those are the two key takeaways from a new interview with the band's percussionist and co-founder M. Shawn 'Clown' Crahan. Speaking to Revolver in a new cover story, Clown shared the following about the band's plans for new music.
"I can say that there's gonna be music sooner than you can imagine, delivered to you in a way you can't imagine. And I'm excited because we're not on a label. And there's a lot of dismay with that, you know what I mean? But there's also a lot of middle fingers with that. I love it, you know? Come and get us, or we'll come to get you."
Clown also revealed that the band plans on continuing as an independent entity and have no plans currently to pursue a new label deal.
"What I can tell you is that we've already been motivated around creating music, because of the love of doing it. So you're gonna get music really soon. And if I can have a loud voice in it, I will make sure that we have at least a good amount of music put out before we do anything with anybody." "Now, I don't hate labels. In fact, I'm from the generation of record deals and producers and pre-producing your album and cutting to two-inch tape. So, I have a fantasy with all that; I like it when we can just book our plane tickets and go rock out in the studio."
"If we don't go with a label, we're gonna have to do all that ourselves, which might mean hiring some people to help pick up the loose ends, which makes it a business — and I'm not sure we're interested in opening up another business. But I am interested in understanding what it means to go directly from our brains to your brain with nobody in the way; I'm interested in that potential."
If and when the Knotfest Australia 2025 headliners release new music, it will likely be the first to feature new drummer Eloy Casagrande the former Sepultura drummer's first official Slipknot mask was part of a reveal via Paper Magazine in May.
Interestingly, the identity of the person taking on the role of samples/media in the band remains shrouded in mystery, with the band opting not to name the replacement for Craig Jones as part of the rollout or at any point subsequently. Following the publication of the Paper article, the band shared images of each member's mask to their social media channels.
The latest iteration of Slipknot delivered a savage set at an 850-capacity venue in California. The show, which took place at Pappy + Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California, was the first show to feature Eloy Casagrande. The band followed that up with a crushing headline performance at the Sick New World Festival and has continued onwards with celebrations of their 25th anniversary.

As for the future of the former members, Weinberg, who replaced former drummer, the late Joey Jordison in 2014, has joined Infectious Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies. While Jones has kept out of the spotlight. Weinberg was a member of the band for just under a decade, keeping Jordison's spirit alive while contributing his percussive flair on three Slipknot full-lengths, 5: The Gray Chapter, All Out Life and The End, So Far. Jones had been a member of the Iowa metal collective for 27 years before the band took to social media and announced his departure in a since-deleted message that read To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future." Whatever the future holds for the rest of Slipknot, it appears 2022's The End, So Far. is the final recording that either Jones or Weinberg will contribute to.
