Mike Patton-founded rock supergroup Tomahawk announced their return with their first album in over eight years called Tonic Immobility just over a month ago, and things are starting to get very weird and wacky with a brand new single off that album called 'Dog Eat Dog', which comes with a super violent and bizarre music video to boot!
Patton says it won't be long before the world is ruled by canine overlords:
"Dogs patiently wait, obediently, for humans to snuff each other out…so they can take over the world. Dogs rule!!!!”
Guitarist Duane Denison has an equally-short take on the new tune, but one with a bit more underlying meaning:
“It's a statement about competition, oppression and unity -- served up with a healthy dose of slapstick humor.”
The video depicts two humans violently fighting each other as dogs would in a dog-fighting ring, interspersed with old footage of puppers doing tricks and being cute. And of course, the end of the video results in the two combatants licking an ice cream cone together. Just because.
Oh, and the song is incredibly catchy - check it all out below (obvious NSFW warning):
Tomahawk has a lineup of members who have played in some pretty iconic bands including Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard), bassist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) and drummer John Stainer (Helmet).
Tonic Immobility will be out on March 26!
