Corey Taylor debuted a new mask at Slipknot's first show in 18 months at the Rocklahoma Festival on the weekend. As with most things Corey Taylor does or says these days, the mask unveiling was met with some heated online debates amongst Slipknot fans.
We asked you, our loyal Maniacs via Facebook what you think the mask looks like and you did not disappoint with your answers. After laughing our asses off for a few days as the comments kept coming, we got it together long enough to compile this list of our favourites.
Nine Things Our Maniacs Think Corey Taylor's New Slipknot Mask Looks Like
Dr. Deckers' mask from Nightbreed.
This one is in all likelihood, accurate. Taylor has praised the series and the mask before. So to everyone who pointed this out, good work, you nailed it, but we asked for WRONG ANSWERS ONLY, so let's get onto the funny ones!
Salad Fingers
One of the internet's OG cult heroes is an absolute dead-ringer for Taylor's mask here. We can just hear the words "I like it when the red water comes out" being sung by Slipknot as well.
Jack Skellington
There was quite a few variations of this suggestion, most of which involved Jack here in many varied different states of inebriation, all of which absolutely work for us.
Peter Dutton
This works too well. We'll leave it up to our Maniacs to decide their viewpoints on the person, but there's no denying the visual similarity.
Randy Feltface
Much beloved Aussie comedian/puppet Randy Feltface was another popular suggestion and we can absolutely see the resemblance, especially if he'd been out on a three-night bender with Sammy J and those eyes sunk a little bit.
A Crash Test Dummy
No not the Canadian band that sung that Mmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm, the actual crash test dummy dolls that they use to test crash impact and safety features in cars. You've no doubt seen them on TAC adverts and Mythbusters challenges, but we also very much see them in Corey's new mask.
Every Canadian in South Park
The flapping heads from the North in South Park do share an uncanny resemblance with Corey's mask here. It's something about the detachment. I wonder if Corey is a fan of maple syrup and fart jokes?
A baseball
Don't overcomplicate it, it's all in the leather and stitching.
Abe Sapien
Abe Sapien from Hellboy was a popular suggestion, which brought glee to our comic book geek hearts and is a great way to end this nonsensical list.
Note: This list has no ranking nor is it a complete list of all the worthy suggestions that were made.
