There are some YouTubers out there who put a great deal of time and effort into sharing their passion for metal music, and Nik Nocturnal has gotta be one of our favourites.
Nik has been quickly gaining a reputation on the platform for entertaining and insightful reaction/review videos on new tracks, perfect guitar covers of new songs which have only just come out, and exposing riff stereotypes in different genres.
Basically, it's pretty safe to say that the dude has his finger firmly on the pulse of the heavy music world, and has probably helped countless people discover their new favourite bands, so we asked the man himself to share with us which tracks he's been loving during lockdown!
VEIL OF MAYA – Outsider
"Grooves, insane riffs, haunting vocals, and HEAVY breakdowns… what more could you ask for?"
BRAND OF SACRIFICE - Fortress
"This track is just pure brutality. Trust me, you’ll be headbanging from start to finish, and as soon as that breakdown hits it’ll be almost impossible to resist having the most delightfully disgusted face possible."
BRING ME THE HORIZON - Parasite Eve
"The best track I’ve heard from BMTH in years! It has the perfect blend of heavy, mainstream, and unique electronics that they’ve been experimenting with over the years. The video and lyrical content really make you feel wonderfully uneasy - perfect for lockdown."
SPIRITBOX - Rule Of Nines
"Combining hard hitting riffs, ethereal vocals, and a contagious groove, this song takes you on such an incredible journey that will really make you miss live shows."
GUITAR COVER
ESKIMO CALLBOY - Hypa Hypa
"Honestly, this is just an awesome party metal track that really brings those 2009 electronicore sounds to a modern age in the most fun way possible."
Cheers Nik! Head on over to his channel to catch more of his work, which currently sits at an impressive 269,000 subscribers (a figure which is up double from this time last year!). You can also check out his band Termina below, who also just put out a huge new single:
