Nik Nocturnal has blown up the metal corner of the internet with his latest creation Mad. An original song purposely written and produced to mimic the sound of Slipknot's iconic album Iowa.
Available to stream now, Nocturnal's Mad features a guest vocalist in the form of Matt Solegod, vocalist for Slipknot cover band Slapknutz.
Nocturnal has uploaded a video to YouTube explaining how he created every element of Mad, gifting maggots everywhere with the knowledge required to create their own Iowa-era masterpiece.
Highlights of the explainer portions of the video include Nocturnal breaking down his utilisation of a Jay Weinberg sample library from Mixwave to ensure the drum tones are just right, as well as sourcing the sounds of a barking dog, kegs, rubbish bins, broken glass, broken bones, a chainsaw and a goat.
Nocturnal and Solegod perform the song together at the end of the video, with Nocturnal committing to the bit by wearing a tortilla on his face throughout.

Slipknot's second studio album, Iowa is unforgettable and unforgiving in its brutality. It excites and inspires the 'maggot' within each of us. It is a record that will remain forever important to the esteem of the nine-headed metal monster that gave it birth, and of course to the legacy of the two who have now sadly departed this earthly realm (RIP Joey and Paul). Home to People = Shit, The Heretic Anthem, Left Behind and My Plague this iconic statement record from Slipnot is now available via Maniacs on beautiful Coke Bottle Clear 2 LP Vinyl.
