Ohio metalcore/post-hardcore act The Plot In You are currently in Australia for the fourth time since 2018, playing at the stacked Good Things Festival.
The band also supported I Prevail on their epic headline sideshow in Brisbane. Having recently dropped the trio of singles Forgotten, Left Behind and Divide the band have returned down under with a renewed energy.
Their first release since their acclaimed fifth album Swan Song (2021) which saw them receive praise from Billboard, Rock Sound, Alternative Press and more, the success of this trio of singles is another indicator of the band's growing presence in the alternative landscape. The anthems join their 2018 single FEEL NOTHING and a bevy of similarly successful tracks in firmly establishing them as monsters of the metalcore streaming space, with their catalogue amassing over 100 million streams and counting.
Ahead of the Good Things Festival, we caught up with vocalist Landon Tewers who recounted the most memorable moments from their previous trips to Australia, including one from his recent solo tour.
My Most Memorable Australian Tour Memories with Landon Tewers of The Plot In You
Sleepless Nights & Long Drives
"The first time we went over there, I don't think I slept the entire time, and I think that's the most I ever probably drank in one week, just because most nights we were travelling in a van everywhere. Most nights we'd just grab a bunch of beers and just try to drink ourselves to sleep because the drives were just so miserable. This was probably 10 years ago maybe, or close to that."
Ridin' Solo
"The last time I came over playing solo, that was a cool experience. I never thought I'd play out of the country solo. Pretty much just that whole experience was a highlight. It was only three shows, but they were so much fun. I was amazed that anybody showed up, so that was cool."
Perfect Perth
"Another one is selling out the first show in Perth this last time, coming back with Plot. That was really, really special. And honestly, just all those shows being sold out was really cool. It’s something I never thought would happen."
Sydney Sightseeing
"Going to the Opera House is another one too. And all of that is cool just because typically on tour, we don't get to sightsee or anything fun like that. It's always kind of like go, go, go. But we got to have one day where we just walked around Sydney and that was really cool, just getting to actually see the place we were touring. It was so cool."
Chasing Waterfalls
"And lastly, the first time we were over there, we had an off day and we went to this big waterfall where you can jump off it and stuff like that. And then there was a little island down there, we just played soccer down there for a while. That was sweet. That was the day I'll never forget for sure. Oh, and we tried kangaroo meat that day too."
