Northern Territory post-hardcore protagonists Tapestry are set to blow audiences in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane away this December as part of the massive Good Things Festival line-up.
Owners of a distinctive and multifaceted heavy-hitting sound, the now Melbourne-based Tapestry are renowned for their captivating live performances which have seen them crush slots alongside the likes of Northlane, Hellions, Polaris, The Plot In You and more over the past few years, firmly positioning themselves as one of the most promising heavy outfits in Australia.
Tapestry's 2023 full-length The Pain You Desire, The Love You Deserve showcased their continued evolution, expanding their sonic framework and displaying a newfound level of songwriting and artistic ability.
Singles Hutchison Terrace and I Don't Belong Here provided the perfect introduction to the next phase of their development, with emotive vocals, innovative instrumentation and undeniably hooky choruses.
Drummer Ben Masters is an integral part of their increasingly complex sound, with his unique rhythmic approach and impressive control adding significantly to the dynamism of their melodic post-hardcore constructs.
Ahead of the band's run on Good Things Festival, Masters was kind enough to join us for a chat about five drummers from the Good Things line-up that have inspired his approach as a drummer.
Five Drummers From The Good Things Festival 2023 Line-Up That Have Inspired Ben Masters of Tapestry
Eloy Casagrande from Sepultura
"Number one is 100% Eloy Casagrande, the Sepultura drummer. I've never seen someone hit with so much intensity, but so much nuance at the same time. So yeah, he's absolutely number one."
Jason Bowld from Bullet For My Valentine
"I think number two would be Jason Bowld, the Bullet For My Valentine, drummer, purely because I think Waking the Demon was the second full song I ever learned on drums in high school."
John Otto from Limp Bizkit
"Third would be John Otto from Limp Bizkit purely because the guy just has so much groove and so many iconic bits, just absolutely loves so many of his parts."
Adam Savage from While She Sleeps
"Number four would be Adam Savage from While She Sleeps, just absolutely on the money, no matter what he does. Every time I've seen him play or just watched a video of him play, it is just second to none, always just nailing every part."
Patrick Murphy from Slowly Slowly
"And number five, there's not really an order, but number five would be Patrick Murphy from Slowly Slowly, just because I love watching him play, and he has some of the coolest parts for the style of music that they play. And he is a very good-looking human as well. Yeah, that's my top five."
