Melbourne legends King Parrot have returned with their first new music since 2017, and you can bet your bottom dollar that it absolutely shreds!
Titled 'Banished, Flawed Then Docile', the rude and heavy rager is the first taste of an upcoming 4-track EP called Holed Up In The Lair (out October 2), which was recorded at Phil Anselmo's Nodferatu’s Lair back in 2017, with Phil himself featuring on the EP's third track.
Take a listen to the new track:
In an interview with Heavy Mag, frontman Matt Young said of the new tracks:
“All of the tracks on the E.P were written a few years ago. We had a bit of time off between a US tour and a Europe tour. We had a couple of weeks to kill and we finished the tour and went and stayed in Florida and had a little holiday for a week and then we went down to Louisiana and visited Phillip and Kate who run Housecore and asked them if we could go in do some recording and make the most of our time while we were there and do stuff in the studio.
We hung out with them and set out different ideas to try and write and record four tracks in the time that we had, just as a project to write and record them as good as we could and play it mostly live to give it that live kind of feel. I think that’s what the tracks have. “Banished, Flawed Then Docile was probably the most gruesome thing I could think of at the time (laughs). The whole thing was a good exercise in trying to write and record as quickly as possible and do it as well as we possibly could.”
