Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford is set to drop a holiday album on October 18 called Celestial, and yes, it's really a real thing.
He's recruited members of his family to fill out the festive band with his brother Nigel on drums, nephew Alex slapping the bass and his sister Sue on bells.
Guitarists Jon Blakey and Robert Jones complete the lineup, and have 12 holiday-themed metal tracks ready to go - four are original, while the other eight include classics like 'Deck The Halls' and 'Joy to the World'.
You can check out the new video for 'Donner and Blitzen' below, which is one of their originals referencing two of Santa's reindeer:
Halford had this to say about the release:
“The great thing about heavy metal is it’s got these kinds of multiple dimensions. I think when you look at it from an outside point of view – if you’re not really familiar with the metal scene – it can look pretty intimidating. And it is a very strong, powerful experience. But it comes at different levels.
I think the music that we’ve made on ‘Celestial‘, for example, gives a display of that. Metal maniacs – as we call ourselves – are just as ready for the holidays as everybody else. And what we’ve tried to do with this music is to reach out to as many of those metal dimensions as we possibly can.”
We won't say no to more metal at Christmas!
