Dolly Parton has announced her first-ever rock album. A 30-song collection featuring 21 originals and 9 timeless covers, Rockstar features guest appearances by many of the biggest names in rock, pop, metal and country. Amongst the dizzying array of names announced as appearing on Rockstar are Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty, Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, Judas Priest's Rob Halford, Journey's Steve Perry, Blondie's Debbie Harry, Kidd Rock and rather incredibly, The Beatles' Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Discussing the album in a statement, Parton revealed the inspiration behind the project and what she hopes it will achieve.
“I’m so excited to finally present my first rock’n’roll album Rockstar!” “I am very honoured and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure. I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”

Set to be released on November 17, Rockstar will be Parton's 53rd studio album. Parton has not specifically stated that the record is a reaction to her much-discussed induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but the amount of rock royalty present in the tracklist indicates that many of the most respected rockers in history believe she definitely belongs in the genre.
