While the Iron Maiden legends have unfortunately had to cancel their shows in Australia this year, we can still get a little taste of the band in the form of the new Iron Maiden Trooper Australia XPA beer!
The Aussie exclusive edition of this now-famous beverage comes courtesy of a joint creation between Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson and award-winning Sydney brewery NOMAD, whose owner Johnny Latta has this to say on the brew:
“We’re ecstatic about being chosen as the Australian brewing partner for this legendary band and privileged that we have been able to work with Bruce to design something truly local.
We were originally planning to make the new beer available around the start of Maiden’s tour here in May, which has sadly since been postponed for obvious reasons however we’re still planning to launch now to give all the fans a taste of this awesome new beer whilst it’s as fresh as it can be! Irrespective of the tour it’s a real moment in the development of Nomad as a brewing partner, and for us to impress Bruce with this unique beer, tells us we’re doing something right over here!
It’s usually musicians who audition but it was the Head Brewer, Brooks & I that had to ‘perform’ for Bruce. He certainly knows his stuff & was interested to hear about our full Nomad range and how we developed the XPA with a tropical DNA for him.”
The result is a 4.5% alcohol Australian XPA with low bitterness, a refreshing aroma and taste, brewed with a unique dry hopping blend of Australian and American hops.
The first batch actually arrived in late April but has already sold out - good news though, there's another one arriving on May 19! Head to the Nomad Brewing website to purchase it or find a list of stockists once it's available, but don't wait too long because it will almost undoubtedly sell out again.
EDIT - At the time of writing there still appears to be some available over at Beer Cartel, but stock is low.
Iso sorted!
Listen to Iron Maiden now.
