Remember that wild hardcore punk show hosted at a Denny's in California last week? It turns out that the 17-year-old promoter Bryson Del Valle got a bunch of great publicity out of it with Time, Billboard and a slew of music outlets covering the event which initially left Del Valle up for $1,000 in damages.
Since covering that story, Denny's have raised that amount to $1,800. Even then, that publicity alone would be worth the $1,800 bill, but on his own fundraiser for $400 (Wacko, the band who played, started their own for $600), a curious donor appeared on the list. That donor was none other than Green Day, who donated 2 grand towards Bryson's goal!
The band even offered to play at a show put on under his promotional name Bastards Club, leaving a message on their donation:
Here is the original set that caused the damages:
Now that is how you promote a show. Nice one, Bryson!
