There's no denying that Iron Maiden are easily one of the most badass bands on the planet; the guys are all in their 60s and still put on some hectic live shows by anyone's standards.
The question is - how long can a band possible keep up the same level of intensity without burning out?
Well, as the band's iconic frontman Bruce Dickinson put it in a recent solo speaking event, that answer is "never"!
After a fan asked what will happen once the current members retire in a Q&A, Dickinson replied:
"I like that. There's always hope. 'After the current members retire,' there'll be a whole load of Iron members. We won't even have to [have] fucking holograms. You know what I mean? You can actually have real Iron Maiden members that kind of look like us but are not us. That's good. I like that. It's not a bad idea. Then we can just sit back and get royalties and do no work. Good idea! It'll never happen, because we're never going to fucking retire."
As the folks over at Blabbermouth point out, bassist Steve Harris also weighed in on the scenario last year on SiriusXM radio:
"We all feel that if we feel we're not cutting it anymore, then we'll discuss it and that will probably be the end of it," he explained. "But at the moment, we don't feel like that. We feel that we definitely still are pulling our weight, so to speak. We're just doing well. So far so good. I don't wanna tempt fate, but we are doing good."
And thank god for that, because we're itching to catch their Legacy Of The Beast Australian/New Zealand tour in May!
