In case you've been living under a rock, Metallica are releasing a special reissue of the Black Album this September with a special 53-song LP of covers to coincide. The aptly-titled covers album, The Metallica Blacklist, features performances from Corey Taylor, Royal Blood, Weezer, Miley Cyrus and more.
The star-studded collaboration on the project has caused a stir with many Metallica fans particularly surprised at Miley Cyrus's killer rock n' roll cover of Nothing Else Matters that was released in June and also features Elton John.
The latest instalment of The Metallica Blacklist has come by way of Holier Than Thou performed by Biffy Clyro. The five-minute psychedelic epic performed by the Scottish rockers came out with a visualiser and is now available on all digital platforms. We can't decide what the visualiser reminds us of more; A Windows 95 screensaver or the old school 007 Nintendo game. Either way, the rendition of the song itself rocks.
Metallica's remastered Black Album LP will be released in all formats on 10th September and The Metallica Blacklist compilation album will be released digitally first on the same day, then on vinyl and CD on 1st October.
All profits from this collection will be donated to a variety of charities selected by the contributing artists along with Metallica’s own All Within My Hands foundation.
