Aussie rapper, Masked Wolf, made waves on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday performing his smash hit, Astronaut In The Ocean. The song, which was released last October, has been streamed over 350 million times on Spotify alone with the video clocking up 94 million views on YouTube.
What makes this relevant to you, assumed rock/metal fan, is what happens halfway through the performance. Right before the second chorus comes in the pyro kicks off and a live band appears giving us serious modern nu-metal vibes. A guitar solo is thrown in for good measure shortly afterwards exhibiting a fresh and heavier arrangement of the tune.
We think it works well and reckon this take would go off in a live festival setting. Speaking of, he's performing on June 26 at Sparksmania Festival - grab tickets here. Hopefully, the electric guitars will be joining him!
Previously, Masked Wolf (or Harry Michael as he's known in his normie non-musician life), has said of the tune, “I had put a lot of money and time into music, but it wasn’t really being heard. To be honest, it was mentally draining. There were points where I thought, ‘Should I give up? Should I stop?’ I made the decision to keep going for it. Everything stemmed from this hardship. ‘Astronaut in the Ocean’ is about this time in my life. Voice your depression and anxiety. I’m essentially asking,‘Have you been in the same places? Tell me your story’.”

Oh, by the way, you also need to check out this hectic metal cover of Astronaut In The Ocean by Our Last Night which has clocked over 4 million views for very good reason!
