Slipknot dropped their seventh studio album The End, So Far today, which is marvellous news for maggots, but it is even better news for people who enjoy listening to Corey Taylor sound off on things.
The rollout of The End, So Far means that the endlessly quotable frontman is everywhere right now, letting his unfiltered thoughts run wild. The latest rather deserving target of a little bit of Taylor vitriol is none other than Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine.
Levine recently caused a stir online following the outing of an affair he had with model Sumner Stroh and the leaking of a number of flirty messages between himself and a number of other women, during this time. One of those message exchanges featured Levine inferring that he believes "no hot chicks" listen to metal.
It is the latter comment that Taylor revealed his thoughts during an Instagram live session with fans. Taylor was asked about Levine's comments, initially laughing off the question, before laughing joyfully about Levine's current predicament. "Yeah, that's all I gotta say about it," said Taylor before taking a sip of a drink and returning to laughing with intent at the screen and commenting, "What a dick."
It's not the first time Taylor has let his distaste for Levine known, in 2018, he called Levine a "schmuck" for his dismissive thoughts on the state of rock. At the time Taylor stated "just because you claim to have ‘Moves Like Jagger’ doesn’t mean you come anywhere CLOSE to ROCKING like Jagger. Tell that schmuck to go back to the fucking Voice."
Slipknot released their seventh full-length album The End, So Far today, to the delight of maggots across the globe.
Produced collaboratively by Joe Baressi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Avenged Sevenfold, Parkway Drive) and Slipknot, The End, So Far is the follow-up to Slipknot’s 2019 We Are Not Your Kind which marked the band’s third consecutive #1 on the ARIA album chart.
Preceded by three well-received singles The Chapeltown Rag, The Dying Song (Time To Sing) and Yen, which introduced us into the immersive and sonically expansive world of The End, So Far the record sees one of the world’s most popular and deeply enigmatic bands relentlessly charting new ground as they continue to redefine, revitalize, and reimagine the scope of rock music.
To celebrate the widely anticipated release we caught up with Slipknot bass player, Alessandro 'V-Man' Venturella for a discussion about all things The End, So Far, head over and give it a read.
