Years before Zack de la Rocha met Tom Morello and played his first show with Rage Against The Machine, the young firebrand played guitar in a hardcore punk band called Hard Stance, who have had some new footage from 1990 surface online.
Hard Stance formed in 1987 and put out two EPs, which only saw an official release through their label in 2018. Check out the full set from March 4, 1990 below; while the band certainly don't have the same stage presence that would be seen in Zack's later endeavours, the music carries a raw and unbridled energy (20-year-old Zack is in the black t-shirt):
Zack also became vocalist for another hardcore band called Inside Out, who existed from 1988-1991 and put out only one EP before disbanding. Apparently they had material in the works for a second release called Rage Against The Machine, a name which de la Rocha undoubtedly took with him to Tom Morello.
Rage Against The Machine were scheduled to reunite for a world tour in 2020, but those plans have been put on hold due to coronavirus, instead planning out the trek for mid-2021.
Listen to Rage Against The Machine now.
