We love hearing heavy music from different corners of the world; it's often really refreshing to hear the sounds from different cultures injected into the foundations of metal to create something we've never heard before. Bloodywood are an Indian folk metal band who have done just that, becoming viral stars in their country by making metal covers of top 40 artists like Post Malone and Kendrick Lamar, Bollywood songs and Hindi commercial music.
Now, they've released an epic new music video for an original song called 'Jee Veerey' (translated into 'Live, Brave One'), which was created to help people struggling with mental illness. The track is set to the calm grasslands, forests and fresh water streams of Himachal Pradesh and features a beautiful tin-whistle woven throughout uplifting lyrics and impassioned screaming.
The band have found a way to push their positive message beyond the music as Karan Katiyar explains after the song:
"Jee Veerey is a song about mental illness and fighting depression. We've personally lost family and friends who had every forms of mental illness. And the fault lies partly in us because we fail to realise that these are actual diseases, they're not states of mind. So, our Patreons and us decided to do something beyond just sing about it. So we went ahead and bought 60 one-on-one counselling sessions with professional counsellors for anyone who wants to reach out. These are one-on-one, 1 hour sessions on video which is completely anonymous. So if anyone you know is going through any kind of problem - whether it be work, family, realtionships or whatever - there is a coupon in the description."
We love this amazing track and the way it brings light to such an important issue. Check it out!
