We've been on the hunt for early footage of some of our favourite bands over the last few weeks; so far we've manged to dig up great footage of Korn, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit, and now we're stoked to add Rage Against The Machine to that list with their first ever public performance in 1991.
Taken at California State University, the video shows a young RATM play a whole bunch of songs from their self-titled debut album which would be released the following year and go triple platinum in the process. As soon as vocalist Zach de la Rocha steps in, you know these guys got to where they are for a reason. So cool to watch them play to people with their backs turned the same way they do to a stadium of 50,000 people! Check it out:
At 37:08 in the video, you can actually hear a guy ask "are these guys any good?". Yes guy, we think you'll find that they are!
Listen to Rage Against The Machine now.
