Last night Trivium’s Matthew K Heafy took to his YouTube channel to reveal new prototypes for his upcoming collaboration with Epiphone. The Until The World Goes Cold singer exhibited two new Les Paul axes from his MKH Origins Custom guitar range, one in white and the other in black.
Heafy has been collaborating with Epiphone for nearly a decade revealing his first artist signature model Les Pauls with them back in 2013 and a new signature model five years later called the SnØfall which drew inspiration from Trivium’s 2015 album Silence In The Snow.
Both the 2013 series and 2017 SnØfall have been sold out globally for a while and according to Heafy, are “not ever being made again in that colour configuration.” So naturally, Trivium fans and guitar enthusiasts alike were stoked when Heafy revealed the first versions of the custom black and white Les Pauls on his channel in January.
What makes the announcement sweeter is that both guitars were modelled off guitars Heafy used early on in Trivium’s career. According to MKH himself, the white Les Paul is “modelled like the Supreme that you remember seeing me with” and the black is, “Modeled after the original, original, original, OG Les Paul custom of mine. This is like the one you remember from the Pull Harder (On The Strings Of Your Martyr) video.”
Aside from the nostalgiac components, some other notable features of these guitars are that the white LP has a modern prophecy neck which is apparently more ergonomic and is also the lightest Les Paul Heafy reckons he’s ever felt. The black also comes with a hardshell case toting Heafy’s signature in gold.
The recent prototypes showcased are apparently quite close to what the final versions would look like except for a few aesthetic details (um, black classic knobs or gold classic knobs?) and will come in both six and seven-string options.
The current release date for these beauties is projected to be around June/July 2022.
