The Amity Affliction have gone through their fair share of ups and downs on their road to worldwide notoriety, but if their determination doesnt speak volumes for their commitment to their values, then one listen to any of their studio albums will. Over the last ten years, The Amity Affliction have persevered and gone from strength beyond strength to gain an inspirational amount of support and momentum, emerging as a leader in the local hardcore scene. Revved up rhythms, soaring melodies, blistering breakdowns and hilariously subversive non-sequitur song titles are the stock-in-trade of the hard-partying mischief-makers in The Amity Affliction. Yet cloaked beneath the mayhem lay the stark realities of humankinds dark struggle with mortality. Simply put, these four Australians have found reasons to smile even as they confront some of the harder truths of life.
We recently asked bassist/vocalist Ahren Stringer a few questions including why he chose Hardcore/Metal! Read on to see what he had to say
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HARDCORE/PUNK/METAL?
Because my parents hated it.
WHATS THE BEST KIND OF HARDCORE/PUNK/METAL?
All of it really, anything with big breakdowns, singalongs and anything fast really.
WHY WOULD YOU ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO CHOOSE HARDCORE/PUNK/METAL?
I guess because it can really pump you up, get you excited and it really helps you let off some steam.
