Remember when Marvel claimed that Avengers: Infinity War was the most ambitious crossover of all time? Clearly they forgot about this event in 2000 which saw Adam Sandler sitting down with Deftones and Incubus to deliver an acoustic performance of Deftones' classic 'Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)'.
But... why? Well as it turns out, it was all a promotional stunt for Little Nicky, his metal-themed comedy which had just come out and featured bands like Deftones, Powerman 5000, P.O.D and Linkin Park on the soundtrack, all of whom had just exploded onto the mainstream as part of the nu-metal craze at the turn of the century.
The acoustic version of the track is actually quite haunting with the added backing vocals from Incubus' Brandon Boyd, while the rest of the video sees P.O.D members come out to jam the Steve Miller Band's 'The Joker'. Huge WTF vibes, but a fascinating peek into a time capsule - check it out:
Yeah, Adam Sandler is basically picking one or two notes with his thumb on the guitar, but the fact that this clip exists still blows our minds. Ahh 2000, what a year you were!
