It hasn't even been a full week since System Of A Down released new music to raise funds for the Armenia Fund in the hopes to provide humanitarian aid to Artsakh following a tense conflict with Azerbaijan and Turkey, but the band have revealed that they've already raised over $600,000 USD as a result!
After uncertainty there would be anything new from SOAD ever again, it makes sense that the response has been so huge, but it's great to see fans supporting such a worthy cause by buying both tracks from their Bandcamp page as well as merch from their official site too.
A new interview with all SOAD members together has been released, which goes into further detail about why Armenia needs support right now:
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your incredible support of our campaign for the people of Artsakh, and for helping us raise over $600K so far in donations to provide for those in dire need via the Armenia Fund. Because of you, we will be able to help displaced civilians, young and old, who are affected by the hideous war crimes inflicted upon Artsakh by Azerbaijan and Turkey.”
Please watch this full interview to get a more intimate look and understanding into why we came together to release “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz.” To the four of us, it’s extremely important to share these truths with you. It is for our ancestors, our culture, and our nation. Help us spread the message.”
It's fantastic to see System Of A Down using their platform to help so many people in need. If you haven't heard 'Protect The Land' and/or 'Genocidal Humanoidz' yet, here they are in all their glory:
