System Of A Down held their livestream fundraiser to benefit injured Armenian soldiers earlier this morning, raising around $250,000 towards new prosthetic limbs, medical care and advanced treatment following the violent 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war that brought SOAD back together to release their first new music in 15 years.
At the end of the stream, the band premiered the music video for 'Genocidal Humanoidz', the heavier of the two new songs they released. You can watch it below, which has frenetic footage of the band playing through the song spliced with an eye-popping black and white animation of a boy trudging through war-torn ruin:
System Of A Down's livestream didn't feature any musical performances, instead with Serj Tankian, Shavo Odadijan and John Dolmayan sharing conversations about the impacts of the war with a multitude of guests including Armenia Fund representatives, Armenian politicians, medical professionals who have first-hand experience treating the soldiers and more.
Here's the whole thing to watch if you want to check it out:
SOAD also raised over $600,000USD for the Armenia Fund when they released both 'Protect The Land' and 'Genocidal Humanoidz' back in November 2020.
