Serj Tankian has unveiled a new solo EP called Elasticity, featuring five songs he'd previously written for System Of A Down's sixth album that never came to fruition. The EP is set for release digitally on March 19 and April 30 for vinyl, and the eccentric title track is already available to check out below!
It's definitely an unconventional track with plenty of Serj's unique vocal babblings throughout and a noisy rock energy underpinned by synth melodies.
Take a listen, and see what you think:
Serj explains the origins of the tracks on Elasticity:
"When I conceived possibly doing another record with the guys from System of a Down a few years back, I started working on a set of songs that I arranged in rock format for that purpose. As we weren’t able to see eye to eye on the vision going forward with an SOAD album, I decided to release these songs under my moniker."
While System Of A Down did reunite in late 2020 to release the songs 'Protect The Land' and 'Genocidal Humanoidz' for benefiting their homeland of Armenia during conflict, it's yet to be seen whether the band will continue to make new music going forward.
