It's easy to feel trapped in a bit of a void right now - and Melbourne prog metal/djent band Modality know it all too well, covering the feelings of isolation in their fantastically-groovy new single 'The Void'!
Modality flex a well-oiled musicianship, using a dynamic two-pronged attacked of male and female vocals for a varied and refreshing sound, while killer down-tuned riffs and clockwork drums lay on that sweet, sweet genre-defining groove.
'The Void' has some impressive names involved behind the scenes too, with Ted Furuhashi (CIRCLES, Twelve Foot Ninja) on the mix and Ermin Hamidovic (Architects, Devin Townsend, Periphery) on mastering duties to give it a shiny coat of paint.

Vocalist Nigel Jackson says he wanted to song to be for people who are:
"...feeling helpless and searching for the light at the end of the tunnel, especially with the world being currently affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It's the feeling of being depressed and empty inside, not knowing if there's anything you can do to change it, and coming to terms with the uncertainty of things getting better or worse."
"It’s also about the fear of becoming numb and desensitised to everything, and the fear of being reckless and destructive in the environment that surrounds you. The surreal visuals of the film clip amplify the feeling of abnormality that we are all experiencing at this time."
Modality only formed in late 2018, dropping their debut EP SYNTHES1S and playing an impressive debut show at PROGFEST in Melbourne alongside some huge names in the genre including Monuments (UK), The Ocean (Germany) and Skyharbor (India/US).
It'll be very interesting to hear what comes next from the band, who have already shown oodles of promise!
