Misha Mansoor is often credited as one of the pioneering forces behind what came to be the djent genre, uploading his virtuosic music under the Bulb moniker as early as 2005, before Periphery came into existence.
Last year we named him as one of the 20 best metal guitarists, so were thrilled when last month he announced an official solo album would drop on 16 July.
After releasing an introduction to the 11-song album via the song/music video for Parabolica alongside the announcement, he returns with a new offering, Echo Teuffel. The track is a slower number with a lot of space within it for the listener to really sink into the ambient tones and polyrhythms throughout.
Mansoor left a brief message about the new tune via his YouTube channel:
"Hey guys, I have been quite excited for this one to come out as it’s a little different, but I’m quite happy with the way it came out. I hope you guys enjoy!"
