The mighty Mastodon have dropped the reflective new song, Sickle And Peace.
The third single to be taken from their upcoming double album, Hushed and Grim, Sickle And Peace, is a moody and reflective progressive rocker that is composed of several distinctive shifts. Opening with a haunting, child-like message and a subdued tone before it unfolds into a melodically driven monster. There's an emotional heaviness at play that further showcases the depth and breadth of the material we can expect on Hushed and Grim (out on Friday October 29th).

Sickle And Peace follows Teardrinker and Pushing The Tides in preempting Hushed And Grim.
The double album set Hushed and Grim will close a four-year gap between albums, following 2017's Best Metal Performance GRAMMY® Award-winning Emperor of Sand.
Recorded in their hometown in collaboration with the legendary producer David Bottril (Tool, Rush, Muse), Hushed and Grim features 15 tracks surveying the sonic landscapes of rock, psychedelia, punk, metal, alternative, and prog threaded together by the innately expressive musical interplay of these four virtuosic musicians.
An atmosphere of very real loss, loneliness, and longing permeate through the trio of cathartic vocals as they musically say goodbye to an old friend, confidant, and longtime manager the late Nick John by architecting a magnum opus that bears the influence of his eternal memory.
While Hushed and Grim is steeped in one of the darkest periods of the band’s career as each member experienced personal grief, its light shines through in a fully realized manifestation of everything Mastodon is right now.

Once again, Mastodon have drafted in revered artist Paul Romano (Remission, Leviathan, Call of the Mastodon, Blood Mountain, Crack The Skye) whose evocative images adorns the cover of Hushed and Grim.
Hushed and Grim represents the next step on Mastodon’s endless path of natural evolution.
