Korn's Jonathan Davis has made a triumphant but exhausting return to the stage, fronting Korn for the first time since he was diagnosed with COVID-19.
Davis joined his band on stage as they restarted their US summer tour with Staind over the weekend, following two weeks of show cancellations caused by his battle with COVID-19.
Davis, who suffers from severe asthma, took to the stage with an oxygen tank for assistance, which he can be seen taking 'hits' from in between songs. He also performed large amounts of the show from a seated position, doing his best to give Korn fans the full live experience, but never venturing far from his fittingly metal looking throne.
Fan footage of the show shows a relieved and exhausted looking Davis closing the show with a heartfelt thank you before the band close with Blind.
This is going to be the last song of the night y’all. I fuckin’ did it. “Thanks to you motherfuckers. You pushed me along. I really appreciate it.
The band continued to tour over the weekend, with Davis revealing more details about the impact of COVID-19 on him despite his now non-infectious status.
I’m going to recover from getting Covid, y’all. That was a motherfucker. Please give me some energy, I need something from you guys, okay?
Davis ongoing struggles were underlined further in an Instagram video from Guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch who said.
Jonathan Davis is still struggling with the Covid after effects. He’s physically weak and having a mental battle and any type of love, light and energy you can throw at him, prayers, all of it. We have shows coming up, so all of you guys check the dates, whatever show you’re going to, throw him some love and energy, man. He needs you more than ever.
At Maniacs we all wish Jonathan a speedy and full recovery.
