Byron Bay metalcore legends In Hearts Wake have revealed a new single called 'Hellbringer', which features none other than Polaris vocalist Jamie Hails.
The track is now the fourth to be released from the band's upcoming record Kaliyuga, which will be out on August 7 and serve as their first since 2017's Ark.
The band's frontman Jake Taylor says of the song:
“At some of our American shows extremist groups have picketed outside, telling our fans that they’re ‘going to hell’. If only they knew just how positive the energy inside the venue was! Never judge a book by it’s cover. So rather than fight hate with hate, we decided to have some fun and lean into the metal stereotype.
In 2020 with live streams becoming the new norm, we decided to stage our own hell-bent circus. We thought it would be funny to ask Jamie to dress up as a werewolf, turn me into a vampire and rain blood on the entire band. Guess Halloween came early this year. Thank you Blade.”
The band have always been environmentally-conscious at their core, but they've really stepped it up for Kaliyuga, even going so far as measuring their total carbon footprint throughout the recording process and then purchasing carbon credits of that exact amount to offset their power usage completely.
Jake Taylor explains:
“During the recording process we measured every power socket, counted every light, pound of freight, food consumption, driving mile and airfare taken. We were then able to find the total carbon footprint and offset it by supporting a rewilding project in Australia on First Nations land.
Our mission to help support and sustain life on earth has made us realise that less is more. Many industries are evolving, and as musicians we feel it’s time to do our part. It’s been challenging to navigate the retail hurdles, find sustainable materials and successful companies that embody our ethos, but through a bit of research we’ve discovered that there are many solutions out there.”
