Horror-themed metalcore legends Ice Nine Kills have joined in the efforts to help support Australian bushfire relief efforts, after they raised a cool $54,000 in 48 hours with a limited t-shirt design featuring a kangaroo dressed as Freddy Krueger.
That figure equates to well over 1,000 shirts sold in that two-day period, which is both a pretty amazing gesture from the band and an amazing outcome too.
Ice Nine Kills posted this alongside the link to the merch:
"Last month we were thrilled by the killer reception we received on our inaugural visit to Australia. In light of the recent events, we are donating all profits from this limited edition shirt to the Australian Wildfire Relief efforts..."
Specifically, profits from the shirt went to Australia Zoo's Wildlife Warriors – a non-profit organization founded by the late Steve Irwin and his wife, Terri Irwin, to aid in the protection of injured, threatened or endangered wildlife – and the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery.
Other bands have also been showing their support for Australia throughout the crippling bushfire season, including Metallica who donated $750,000 of their own.
It is estimated that over 1 billion animals have perished in the 2019/2020 bushfires, which have ravaged over 17 million hectares across New South Wales and Victoria.
