    It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh metal fix on Friday.  That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend with some Friday Fire. 

    With so many new metal releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to.  So without fear or favour, here are is our Friday Fire: Five New Tracks We're Feeling This Friday.



    Converge- Coil

    As they prepare for the release of their collaborative new album— featuring Chelsea Wolfe, Ben Chisholm and Stephen Brodsky, Converge have unveiled the second single from Bloodmoon: I, the expansive and intricate Coil. This is a side of Converge we haven't heard before and we're here for it. 

    Sabaton - Christmas Truce

    Alright,  who had Sabaton on their Christmas Song bingo board? Sabaton does Sabaton things in this tribute to the legendary 'Christmas Truce' of World War 1 which saw British and German soldiers put down their weapons and meet in no man's land for an exchange of gifts and a game of football. Sabaton goes all-in on this, giving us metalheads a Christmas battle metal banger that actually gets way closer to the supposed true spirit of Christmas than any Mariah Carey love song. 

    Senses Fail- I'm Sorry I'm Leaving 

    Senses Fail return with this single about singer Buddy Nielsen confronting his anxieties around being a career musician, the constant struggle to create a good work/life balance and be a good father. It is a heartfelt song that does everything that you want out of Senses Fail, mixing post-hardcore, melodic hardcore, emo and rock elements into a big old anthem that'll have you singing along in moments. Their new album, Hell Is In Your Head, will arrive July 22nd via Pure Noise.  

    Excuse For An Exit - Death Of Me 

    Ascendant Gippsland rockers Excuse For An Exit continue to deliver the emotive goods on the Death Of Me.  A powerful and anthemic alt-rockers driven by a typically dynamic performance from vocalist/guitarist Edelle Merson, the Chris Vernon produced Death Of Me showcases exactly why this band is considered one of the local heavy scenes best-kept secrets. Not a single note is without definitive purpose here, with guitar, drums and bass conjuring together a '90s alt-rock influenced belter with undeniable modern pop-hooks and more than a hint of punk spirit.  Love it. 



    Comeback Kid- Heavy Steps

    Winnipeg melodic hardcore legends Comeback Kid come out spin kicking on Heavy Steps. Our second taste of their upcoming album of the same name, Heavy Steps carries on with the same frantic spirit, passionate vocals, crushing breakdowns and two-step baiting grooves. Paired with a video that displays their often overlooked lighter side. A ripper of a track about tearing through life using instinct rather than reason and logic, this just begs for a pit to open up the minute it starts raging. Fuck we miss hardcore shows! Get us to one, now.
