It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh metal fix on Friday. That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend with some Friday Fire.
With so many new metal releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to. So without fear or favour, here are is our Friday Fire: Five New Tracks We're Feeling This Friday 10th December
Karnivool- All It Takes
Karnivool returns with their first new music in eight years with All It Takes, a groovy, melodic monster of a track, that bursts from the speakers with '90s alt-metal Ian Kenney's legendary soaring vocals and Karnivool's trademark timing headfuckery. A statement released with the track reads rather interestingly for fans awaiting more from Karnivool, revealing that "All It Takes is the first part of a larger project they continue to wrestle into existence, doing what the f*ck they want, when they want and how they want may be the reason why their intermittent output has assembled an enormous worldwide congregation whose collective Christmas arrived real early this year.” Whatever that means, we're into it, coz this track rips.
Sylosis- Immovable Stone
Sylosis return with another prime example of the quartet's uniquely exhilarating take on modern metal, Immovable Stone. The first new music from the band fronted by the founder (and Architects guitarist), Josh Middleton, since they dropped the furious Worship Decay around this time last year, Immovable Stone showcases once again that Sylosis are one of the most underrated and underappreciated acts in modern metal, this track is immense and this band should be as huge as the song sounds. Hopefully now is the time for Sylosis to shine.
Venom Prison - Pain of Oizys
Venom Prison display an entirely new side of the band on the cathartic, slow-building and atmospheric Pain Of Oizys. Drenched in emotion, the second single to drop from their upcoming third full-length, Erebos, starts out as a sombre, reflective piano-driven ballad, which sees vocalist Larissa Stupar displaying her stellar yet seldomly heard clean vocals the song gradually builds its way to a mesmerizing modern death metal climax. This is one of the most memorable death metal tunes in recent memory, that it comes from Venom Prison is a testament to the fact they are on the brink of taking over the metal world. Consider us very excited for Erebos.
Eskimo Callboy - Pump It
German Metalcore party boys, Eskimo Callboy dropped your new gym anthem, Pump It earlier this week and honestly, when the chorus hit, it had us ready to bust out reps for the first time in months. Whether they are being serious or not, this blend of '90s aerobics style electro, metalcore, post-hardcore and pop is so wonderfully, enjoyably hyper and unique that we just can't help but find the nearest treadmill drumkit and try and crush a PB, just like their drummer does in the hilarious aerobics inspired video. The instrumental and vocal hooks on this are undeniable and the whole thing bursts with such enthusiasm that it wouldn't surprise us if we found out they were being serious about their love for busting our reps. The fact that the band has now applied to represent Germany at Eurovision just makes us love this track even more. No one else in the world does what Eskimo Callboy do, and no one else probably could, so don't overthink it, just pump it!
Blind Guardian - Deliver Us From Evil
German Power metal legends, Blind Guardian are back to doing what they do best on Deliver Us From Evil, a suitably epic and aggressive song that singer Hansi Kursch says is indicative "of a thoroughly aggressive album. I don't want to promise too much by claiming that the upcoming long-player, that is due to be released next year, will contain nothing but strong tracks and shall be a highlight of our career, yet I am sure the album will make a lot of people very, very happy". If it is Blind Guardian playing power metal, really well, like they do on Deliver Us From Evil what else could you want out of life?
