We knew that the prog metal legend Devin Townsend had been working on a new album called Empath for quite a while now, but it looks like he's wrapped it all up and it'll be out in March!
He's also unveiled the strikingly clean album art on Instagram, and revealed that the record goes for 74 minutes.
Release date is mid March. I will let you all know about pre order bundles as the release gets closer for those of you who are willing to support this. Thank you again. :)

Listened through Empath mastering. A couple of small tweaks here, but I think its done. Its 74 minutes long, the experience is 'epic' in the most literal sense. I feel like I just finished watching Ben Hur... exceptionally proud.

Empath will be the first album he's released under his own name (and not the Devin Townsend Project) since 2007, with his last release being the conceptual Ziltoid The Omniscient. The record is confirmed to have features from Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, with whom Devin used to play with throughout the 90's.
Townsend was of course the vocalist for the extreme metal band Strapping Young Lad, but has also been involved with other projects including Casualties of Cool.
Bring on the album!
