While we're absolutely excited for a new Deftones record soon, this month marks the 20th anniversary of the band's iconic 2000 album White Pony, which has remained a staple in the nu-metal/alternative metal genres to this day, and some fans even arguing it as Deftones' best.
Some new footage has emerged on YouTube of the White Pony launch show in Santa Monica, California on June 1, 2000, just as the band were about to skyrocket in popularity.
The 40-minute-long trip down memory lane starts with a backstage interview with vocalist Chino Moreno, before cutting to clips of fans with goatees and frosted tips waiting in line for the epic set.
The band go on to play a show with songs from both White Pony and their previous album Around The Fur, as well as a Depeche Mode cover for good measure. As always, it's both awesome and sad to see bassist Chi Cheng using his unreal talent, who died in 2013 after 5 years in a semi-comatosed state following a serious car accident.
It's well worth a watch for any Deftones fan - here's the video's timestamps:
00:10 - Pre-show interview with Chino
03:53 - Band entrance
04:28 - Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)
08:15 - My Own Summer (Shove It)
12:00 - To Have and To Hold (Depeche Mode cover)
15:15 - Change (In The House Of Flies)
20:28 - Digital Bath
25:26 - Knife Party
35:35 - Around The Fur
Do you still spin White Pony in 2020? We sure do!
