With Deftones' recent announcement of Black Stallion, the fully-remixed companion album included with White Pony's 20th Anniversary release, we've been ever so curious to hear what some of the remixes would sound like given the impressive list of artists on board.
Now, after releasing Purity Ring's take on 'Knife Prty', the band have dropped Mike Shinoda's (Linkin Park) take on one of the album's biggest bangers 'Passenger' - and it rules!
Shinoda starts things off with some lo-fi bell sounds and de-tuned textures, building things up over the course of the track with an electronic style beat driving the choruses. It works seamlessly, especially when Maynard James Keenan's famous guest vocals make their appearance.
And technically we have Linkin Park, Deftones and Tool all on the same track, which is absolutely something to cheer for - have a listen:
If you like what you're hearing so far, there's a lot more to look forward to, with collaborations from DJ Shadow, Robert Smith (The Cure), Squarepusher, Clams Casino and many more to come. Between this and their stunning new studio album Ohms, it certainly has been a massive year for Deftones!
