If you've been a longtime reader of ours, you'll know that we love to crack open the odd time capsule and peer back down the canals of old metal history.
And today we've got an extra special throwback for you, with new pro-shot footage that has surfaced of Deftones playing the song 'Answers' at a show in 1992!
This almost 30-year-old footage features a baby-faced Chino Moreno with longer hair, and you'll notice that it's not Abe Cunningham behind the kit; that's because he had left the band in 1990 before being replaced by John Taylor from 1991-1993 before re-joining permanently.
'Answers' is a track from their demo album (like) linus that released in 1993 - so keep in mind, this is a version of Deftones that came before their debut album Adrenaline in 1995. The song is pretty strange to listen to, chopping between straight up reggae sections and nu metal, but you can definitely hear the start of what would become the band's signature sound in there.
The clip's quality is actually pretty amazing considering how old it is - check it out below:
Of course, Deftones have gone on to a legendary career that has seen them release nine albums and collect one of the most dedicated fanbases in the world. You love to see it!
