Swedish metal mainstays AVATAR have announced their first-ever tour of Australia. The Dance Devil Dance tour will see the band bring their heralded live show down under in August, playing shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
The tour follows a decade of consistent killer output from the Swedes, whose dedicated Australian fanbase has launched multiple petitions to get the band to tour down under, with those fans even going to the lengths of starting a support group for fans angry at the lack of a local tour by their heroes.
For those unfamiliar with their output, AVATAR have long been your favourite metal band's favourite metal band.
From Iron Maiden inviting them on tour; to Vinnie Paul claiming Dimebag would have been jealous of their riffs; to megastar cameos on their albums, including Halestorm's Lzzy Hale on the new one, Avatar has never lacked for adoration from their peers. When Matt Heafy of Trivium had to skip a few shows on their tour for the birth of his twins his choice to fill in for him was Avatar's, Johannes Eckstrom. The side of the stage at every one of their US and Euro festival appearances always features a packed gallery of the who's-who of rock luminaries riveted by and gaping at the pure joy and spectacle.
AVATAR have amassed over 100 million plays on Spotify and an incredible 163 million views on their YouTube channel with the songs Bloody Angel, Hail The Apocalypse, Torn Apart, The Eagle Has Landed and many more. Recent single The Dirt I'm Buried In, currently on 3.2M views, reached 1M views in only 2 days.
With their stunning new album, Dance Devil Dance debuting on The Australian iTunes Charts at #1 in Metal, #1 in Rock and #6 for All Albums, in Australia, today's announcement means that Aussie fans will no longer be denied!
