Adelaide's heavy/alt-rockers, alt. have released their debut album ABEYANCE.
Across the ten tracks on ABEYANCE, alt. run the gamut of the human experience and sonic flexibility. From the electronic bounce of the introductory PARASITE to the glistening menace of A.D.D, the oscillating rock and sparse pop-fuelled hip hop on THE ONLY GOOD THINGS and the soaring emotions of BETTER OFF LEAVING.
Released on Resist Records in Australia and via SharpTone Records in other territories, ABEYANCE sees the band embrace the outer limits of their vision, producing a release that is equal parts multifaceted, confident and dynamically cohesive.
Featuring team-ups with Marcus Bridge (Northlane), Landon Towers (The Plot In You), Zach Britt (Dream On, Dreamer), Jack Bergin (Void of Vision) and Trenton Woodley (Hands Like Houses, the Callan Orr-produced ABEYANCE is home to songs capable of breaking hearts, smashing speakers and bewitching ears at every turn.
Spending years honing their signature brand of punk, pop, electronic and alternative rock since first erupting onto the scene in 2019, alt. have previously performed with the likes of Karnivool, Sleep Token, Northlane, Cog, sleepmakeswaves, Saosin and Broco during their respective Australian tours.
A band that has long been on the Maniacs radar, we recently worked with vocalist Daniel Cullen-Richards on a piece highlighting their experience touring with Sleep Token. Incredibly, given where they find themselves today, that 2022 tour run with Northlane, plini and Sleep Token was one of alt.'s first major national touring opportunities, with Cullen-Richards reflecting on it as a moment where they learned quite a lot about what it takes to be a band at the next level.
"At the first show in Perth, my band alt. had never been on a real proper tour before, and it is a daunting experience walking into rooms far larger than you have ever played before. The boys were very welcoming, they were the first band on the tour to approach us and introduce themselves. They were approachable, professional, and kind and offered us great support during the tumultuous time that was our first large tour. For that, we are forever grateful to be able to learn and see the workings from the inside of such a dedicated group. With that, I am more than happy to see the extensive growth, or boom if you will, of the band Sleep Token as it is very well deserved down to its core."
Head over to read the rest of his reflections and his review of the new Sleep Token record.
ABEYANCE is out now on Resist/Sharp Tone Records.
alt. are now primed to join Windwaker and the UK's Caskets around Australia this July.
