This week, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor said he was working on some new material in an interview on Iowa radio station Lazer 103.3, to follow up 2019's We Are Not Your Kind.
In the interview (as transcribed by Blabbermount.net), Taylor revealed, "We've got a bunch of really cool stuff, man. It was something that we just kind of started kicking around, obviously, in quarantine. And Clown [Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn Crahan] hit me up — he was, like, 'Hey, we're gonna start working on some music. Are you down?' I was, like, 'Absolutely...it was cool, 'cause I got excited again about exploring some different stuff and not just being so driven in my own thing but thinking outside, trying to tell other people's stories again."
We're possibly just as - if not more - excited about the news. So while we wait impatiently - and inspired by Taylor's rendition of CSNY's Carry On released last week - let's all bask in the glory of Corey Taylor's vocals.

1. Wicked Game - Originally by Chris Isaak
There have been many covers done over the years of this iconic Chris Isaak tune. The likes of HIM and London Grammar have also done outstanding versions in the past and honestly, it's such a great song that Stone Sour releasing this acoustic cover as a bonus track on their 2006 Come What(ever) May record, is just more of a good thing.
2. Best Of You - Originally by Foo Fighters
Some might say that the mark of a great tune is that whether or not you like the original artist, you still feel the need to belt the entire chorus at the top of your lungs when it comes on at the pub. There's no doubt Corey performed this 2016 live acoustic rendition of the Fooey classic with the same conviction as that one guy who is always dancing alone in the front row of cover shows. We dig it.
3. Community Property - Originally by Steel Panther
Now for something a little different. There is just something unexpectedly wholesome about this live acoustic cover performed in 2015 at L.A.'s House Of Blues. Towards the end Taylor sees Steel Panther frontman, Michael Starr, watching in the audience and blows him a kiss. Cute.
4. Rainbow In The Dark - Originally by Dio
Not all the covers Corey Taylor has done are acoustic. This electrifying rendition of Dio's Rainbow In The Dark has to be a standout and was originally released in the 2014 tribute album Ronnie James Dio - This Is Your Life. Other artists that recorded covers for this epic salute to one of the Godfather's of metal, were performed by Anthrax, Metallica, and Halestorm.
5. Hunger Strike - Originally by Temple Of The Dog
Speaking of Halestorm, vocalist, Lzzy Hale, hit the stage with Taylor to do a moving duet of the grunge classic, Hunger Strike, for 2015's APMAS on AXS TV. The original was released in 1991 by Temple Of The Dog and has been covered live by many artists (check out this duet with Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington if you feel like a good cry). A studio version of the cover tune was released by Halestorm on Reanimate: The Covers Ep.
6. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) - Originally by Metallica

7. Purple Rain - Originally by Prince
It's Corey Taylor covering Prince; what more can we say.
