Despite what some segments our society may think not all metalheads are made the same. In fact, the metal community is a dynamic and diverse space, offering a place of entertainment, refuge and belonging for fans of all kinds, from all walks of life.
Logically, metal fandom comes in many forms too and TikTok user and Heath Ledger lookalike (seriously, he looks like he just walked off the set of 10 Things I Hate About You) @Matthew_Scar has done an amazing job of impersonating many of them. In two videos that are quickly going viral, the metalhead deftly and comedically embodies the spirit of every type of metal fan you are likely to see at a metal festival.
All the classics are present. The straight face and crossed arms of the 'unimpressed' guy? Check. The overexcitement of the 'OMG I love these guys' types? Check. The neck-snapping action of the 'furious headbanger'? Check. The violent movement of 'the friend who drags you into the moshpit' and his natural dance partner the 'scared dude'? Check. The bored 'waiting for the headliner' guy? He's here too. The wild air-guitar of the fabled 'shredder'? Accounted for. The stumbles of the guy who has sunk 'two too many' beers? It wouldn't be a metal festival without them! Scar does an incredible job of embodying them all.
Watch the two videos below and see how many of these much-loved stereotypes of the circle pit of life you recognise.
@matthew_scar @bloodstockfestival is getting closer, what type of metalhead at festivals you are? 😁🤘 #metalhead #metalfestival #BOA22 #metal ♬ Walk with Me In Hell - Lamb of God

Scar absolutely nails all of the character work here and you can tell that he is just itching to let his one truest metalhead identity run wild. As for which identity that is, he never lets on, but something tells us he is the 'shredder' type.
The choices of Lamb of God and Pantera as the soundtrack solidify what his actions already show, he's definitely one of us.
Next time you're at a festival see if you can spot these stereotypes in the wild, infinite scene points to anyone who collects the whole set.
The use of Walk With Me In Hell has us itching to blast it loud, so here it is in all its glory as our parting gift to you, the official video Lamb Of God's mighty Walk With Me In Hell.
