Iron Maiden have dropped an epic animated video for Stratego.



The metal gods teamed up with Adult Swim to premiere the video for the stand-out Senjutsu track today.   



Created by Swedish director Gustaf Holtenas under Blinkink Productions,  the Stratego clip was executive-produced by Iron Maiden singer and noted polymath, Bruce Dickinson. 



The epic animated clip continues the Samurai theme of the previous single The Writing On The Wall.

Powered by that trademark Iron Maiden gallop, a huge chorus from Bruce Dickinson and some sick leadwork,  Stratego is everything you love about Iron Maiden condensed into just under five minutes of classic metal majesty. 

The second single from the East London legends upcoming 17th studio album Senjutsu, Stratego is one of two songs on the 10 track, 82 minutes long album written by guitarist Janick Gers and founder member/ bassist Steve Harris. Recorded back in 2019 at Guillaume Tell Studios, the track was produced by Kevin ‘Caveman’ Shirley & co-produced by Steve Harris. 

 

Speaking on Senjutsu which was released last Friday, vocalist Bruce Dickinson said: 

“We’re all really excited about this album. We recorded it  back in early 2019 during a break in the Legacy tour so we could maximize our touring yet still have a long set up period before release to prepare great album art and something special as a video. Of course the pandemic delayed things more - so much for the best laid plans – or should that be ‘strategies’!?  The songs are very varied, and some of them are quite long. There’s also one or two songs which sound pretty different to our usual style, and I think Maiden fans will be surprised -  in a good way, I hope!"
