In news to fill our live metal starved hearts with fresh hope, UNIFY Gathering has announced that the festival will officially return in 2022.
After a year off due to...well you know what, UNIFY Gathering will be bringing heavy music fans together again in Victoria's Tarwin Meadows, in January to experience an all-star, all Aussie lineup. The first instalment of that lineup will drop this Thursday 19th August at 8:40 am.
While exact details are being kept under wraps, one Maniacs approved act that appears a near certainty to feature is Gympie metalcore monolith's The Amity Affliction, with the band's barnstorming banger I Hate Hartley used to soundtrack the festival teaser video. The band were of course the festival's inaugural headliner back in 2015, which also happens to be the last time that UNIFY Gathering was an all-Aussie affair, so it would be a booking that would make perfect sense to us.
We'll leave the wild speculation about which other Aussie heavy music monsters might be on the lineup to our Maniacs, but given the restrictions on heavy acts leaving the country this year, it's a fair chance the answer will be close to 'everyone you're thinking of'.
Tix for UNIFY Gathering 2022 go on sale on Thursday 19th January via Ticketmaster at 12 pm. Here's a pre-sale allowing access to tickets one hour early for those extra eager types that you can sign up for here. Note: Given the ongoing pandemic, there's a contingency plan that has been put in place, including backup dates, should the initial January date happen, with the weekend of Thursday,10th March to Sunday, 13th March 2022 locked in as an alternate date.
